Chez Sylvie et Fils, a fine organic French bistro in Sarasota, has recently been named as the winner of a 2008 Natural Choice Award for “Best Organic Eatery” by Gulf Coast’s Natural Awakenings magazine.
Chez Sylvie et Fils is a 100% certified organic restaurant with a European bistro ambience. Sylvie Routier, owner and chef, says, “We are uncompromisingly, 100% unconditionally organic—a very unique restaurant and the only one of its kind in Florida.”
Winners for the 2008 Natural Choice awards were selected by readers of Natural Awakenings from Florida’s Gulf Coast region. Natural Awakenings is a monthly publication which provides resources and information about healthy living with both a national and local focus. Their annual Natural Choice Awards provide recognition to local businesses, people and services that exemplify healthy lifestyles.
Sylvie says, “It is an honor to receive the top award in this category, and I am proud to be grouped in the same class as these health-conscious restaurants that were also nominated.” Chez Sylvie was also named an Honoree for “Best Vegan Eatery”.
In addition to serving certified organic foods, Chez Sylvie et Fils also carries a large selection of certified organic wines and champagnes from France and Italy. Organic beer from the U.S. and Germany are also available. The restaurant is located in Merchants Pointe Plaza at the corner of Swift and Clark Roads in Sarasota. The restaurant’s hours are as follows: Lunch is served Wednesday-Friday from 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m.; dinner is served Wednesday-Saturday from 4:30–9 p.m.; breakfast and lunch are available on Sunday from 9 a.m. –2 p.m. The restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday. Live entertainment by jazz artists, Kitt and Mike Moran, is presented on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9:30 p.m.
