I
was disappointed by the decor,
very cold, plain and blah.
I ordered the sweetbreads
club appetizer which was ok.
The land and sea was cooked
perfectly but they could have
done without the doughy green
onion crepe. The toasted peanut
slaw was hot and soggy - should
have been crunchy and room
temperature at the warmest.
My guest ordered the bone
in rib eye which was cooked
perfectly and tasted superb.
I will give it another try!

No
complaints about anything.
A "must dine" restaurant.
Innovative, creative and clever.
It's about time Sarasota got
a big city restaurant!

Derek's
is simple elegance. The interior
of the restaurant is painted
in bold brown and gold tones,
with sparse decoration, and
simple furnishings. It is
a clean palate that takes
in the colors of its patrons.
The food is presented as simpler
dishes, all with unique flares.
Take veal, served braised,
it comes with the unique combination
of sweetbreads ragout and
ricotta gnocchi, and is topped
with wilted frisee with citrus,
almond sweet peppers and asparagus.
All of the dishes have a pleasant
surprise added to the plate.
Service is on par for the
high quality experience.
