When someone says “Billionaire,” you’re going to get a certain picture running through your brain. It’s impossible not to. Everybody has a slightly different vision. Maybe it’s a pile of cash. Maybe it’s a private jet or a luxury yacht. But I am going to go out on a limb here and say it’s probably not a burger. 🍔
If you choose to put the word “Billionaire” in your burger name, like it or not, you have just raised the burger expectation bar for yourself. I’m sorry, that’s just the way it is. People who order one are going to expect an elevated burger-eating experience. Very elevated.
Out on Siesta Key, there is a place with a laid-back island atmosphere that dared to make that bold burger statement. It’s a place to grab a cold beer, maybe one of their delicious Watermelon-Jalapeno Margaritas, or yes, maybe even a burger with “Billionaire” in the name! Welcome to The Cottage…
It’s not much to look at from the outside. But as we know all too well, looks can be very deceiving in so many different ways.
This is a cozy spot. I like places like this. It’s not pretentious, it’s relaxed, it’s comfortable, and it’s staffed with some real hospitality industry professionals. In short, this place has a ton of things going for it.
It has some great outdoor dining space.
It’s got a fantastic bar with that casual Island charm. ⭐This is the place to order that previously mentioned margarita! 🍹

BURGER TASTED: THE BILLIONAIRE BURGER
📒 OUR TASTING NOTES
🍔 This burger is served as listed on the menu: Short rib chuck-brisket blend, melted double cheddar cheese, bacon n’ onion jam, truffle aioli, lettuce, tomato, brioche bun. ($19)
All right. Let’s get this out of the way right off the bat. This was a great burger!
It had a nice, subtle, smoky flavor to it.
The bacon n’ onion jam is the thing that ties all of these great burger components together in one delicious package.
When this burger comes to your table, it says, “eat me!” It is really well presented. It looks like it will be one of those big, messy burgers (The Ollie G), but it was surprisingly easy to eat without wearing it.
All of the toppings were garden-fresh. They’re paying attention to their produce here! 🍅
The Fries – Again, right on the money. I love the thinner, crispy fries. These delivered!
My server, Ashley, did a great job. She had a fairly full outside deck on the afternoon of my visit. But she managed me and everyone else perfectly.
Clocking in at $19, this isn’t going to be the cheapest burger you’ll find around town. You don’t exactly have to be a “Billionaire” to afford it either. But it is towards the upper range of burger prices.
