There are a lot of places in the Sarasota area that brag about their burger. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. As a matter of fact, if you can’t blow your own horn, don’t expect anyone else to do it for you. 🙌
Have you ever noticed that sometimes places just kind of appear out of nowhere? I think you know exactly what I mean. You drive down the same road nearly every day. Then one time, you notice something that you hadn’t noticed until now. Your little voice says, “Hey, was that there before?…”
That’s precisely how stop number 18 feels to me. 🍔
There is a little strip center up on North Tamiami Trail in Bradenton. It’s unremarkable. It’s like the hundreds of others you drive by in any given month. There are lots of these in FL. 🌴
This particular center houses a pool supply store, a tobacco shop, and a Mexican grocery. This particular center also hosts a hidden gem in the Sarasota/Bradenton burger game, S.O.B. Burgers.
Almost everyone knows the expression, Never Judge a Book by its Cover. This place is the very definition of that saying.
It’s certainly nothing fancy (it reminds me a lot of The Public House). And that is perfectly OK. If this place were fancy, it certainly wouldn’t have the same character. And S.O.B. oozes character (and characters!). It’s a place that’s easy to like.
They have a bunch of tables (2, 4, and 6 seaters). They also have a nice little eight-seat bar.
The chalkboard boasts, The #1 Burger in Town! We will be the judge of that! 😃

📒 OUR TASTING NOTES
🍔 This burger is served as listed on the menu: Blue cheese and smoked bacon. Also, L|T|O ($10)
• This burger had terrific bacon flavor. The smoked bacon that came on this burger was really able to stand up nicely to the blue cheese. That isn’t always the case. Sometimes that blue can just take over a burger. Not this one! 🥓
• Loved the shredded lettuce. I’m starting to like that style better than leaf. One thing that did come to mind. Leaf lettuce is only great if it is super fresh. If it’s not, you can tell almost immediately (certainly by looking at it). The shredded variety is a lot more forgiving.
• All of the toppings were nice and fresh (including the tomato). Points scored for that! ☝️
• The Fries – Double cooked for extra crispy deliciousness. They were the natural cut style, which gives them a touch more potatoey flavor. Plus they were perfectly salted! 🍟
• The service was just perfect for this type of place. Two servers were working on the day that I visited. It looked like they were working in tandem to make sure that everything and everyone was well taken care of. Thanks, Lindsay! ✅

BURGER TAKEAWAYS: For $10, this is a great bang for the burger buck 💸 • You’ve got to look hard for this place, but it’s worth the hunt • Their most popular burger is The Holy Grail (if you try it, let us know!) • It’s a local crowd, which makes things nice and comfortable • Come as you are, no one will judge! 😃

Not useful if you don’t discuss the meat. Looks overcooked and small. Please focus more on the burger itself.
Thanks Gordon. Yes, the burger wasn’t the largest we’ve had, but it was good sized (and a great deal for $10). They do give you the option to add an extra patty for $2. A great price for that too. It wasn’t overcooked (as in dried out), but it also isn’t one of those places where you’re going to get burgers cooked exactly to temp. This one had lots of burger flavor. Hope that helps.
