🥵 Welcome to the Sauna! It’s August. It’s uncomfortable. I tried to say that in the most low-impact way that I know. The good news – get through this month, and you’re closer to being over the hump (at least heat-wise.)

Yes, some new places have opened since we last were together. But it’s that summertime thing rearing its head again. We’ve been a bit on the lazy side. To make it up to you, we PROMISE to fill the void with a bunch of new spots in the September edition. Really, we do! 😁

📝 Yes, for those who read these newsletters closely, we reported that our database size last month was 340. I’m not sure where in the world that came from. A mistake on our part. Sorry. 🙃

The rest of the Top 10 rolls out a couple of first-timers. After months and months in the top 5, The Shebeen Irish Pub & Kitchen settles in at number six. They’re followed by SK plaza mate Lenny’z Pizza, Downtown’s Latin Quarters (salsa dancing + food! 💃), Millie’s Café, and Rose & Ivy rounds things out.

🐐 Taco Tuesday Takes a Hit! After 6 ½ years of pushing tacos out of not one but two Gulf Gate locations, “The Goat” screams “No Mas.” The closing of the Screaming Goat Taqueria leaves one giant hole in Sarasota’s taco community. Good luck, Malin, with whatever comes next…
🌭 Hot Dog HOF!? Yes, there is a Hot Dog Hall of Fame. And one of your local Sarasota restaurants is on the cusp of being an inductee! The Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame will introduce its newest member this fall. Joey D’s Chicago Style Eatery & Pizza! Let’s all raise our poppy seed buns in tribute! Details to come…
🎶 Music + Food Grazing. We want you to plan ahead, so here’s something to add to your September calendar. The Sarasota Opera Food & Wine Festival returns on September 21st! This is a fun foodie event. PLUS, you’ll get to sample two fantastic things at the exact same moment. There’ll be short performances by the Sarasota Youth Opera and tastings from some of our best local restaurants. Not to be missed! INFO HERE!
🐎 We’re Back in the Saddle Again! Well, kind of. After a couple of months of summer adventures, we’re ramping things back up again here at dineSarasota. We won’t be at 100% full strength this month. But we’re getting there!!
