FIRST LOOK – The Duo – Döner & Deli
Siesta Key’s Culinary World Gets a Little Bigger! 🌍

🧡 SK Gets More Culinary Diversity. I LOVE ethnic cuisine. I’m not particularly particular, either. I love it all!
The discovery of new flavors is exciting (to me, anyway). The education that goes along with uncovering a new dish and the history that surrounds it can leave you wondering how you could be so sheltered. And sometimes so blind to the world around you. It’s a great, big planet with LOTS to eat! 🌍
Siesta Key has never really been known for its diverse culinary landscape. Great beaches, yes! Foods of the world, not so much. Looks like that might be changing (if ever so slightly).
🥙 Enter the Döner Kebab! I wasn’t raised on Turkish food, so I’ve got some catching up to do! This delicious “sandwich” has roots that reach as far back as the 17th century. But it’s really in the 1850s that the Döner really gets going. 📝 That’s also the same time frame as the Irish Potato famine. The two events ARE NOT connected!
👀 Let’s Take a Look at The Duo – Döner and Deli

🤷🏻♂️ WHAT’S THIS PLACE LIKE?
This is an efficient little restaurant space. It has that “Chipotlesque” feel to the sandwich-making process. You choose your carrier (lavash, pita, sandwich, or bowl).
Then, add the main filling (chicken, beef, or falafel).
Next comes topping choices. And there are many!
📝 We had ours “all the way*” to get a real taste of what this Turkish treat is really all about. *Lettuce, shredded cabbage, tomato, onion, cucumber, parsley, pickles, jalapeño, and fried onion.
This is a family-owned operation. And everyone who walks through the front door of this cute corner eatery is immediately part of the crew! 👪
📄 WHAT TO ORDER?
Here’s Where the “Deli” Comes In. Yes, Döner Kebabs are the star of the show here. But there’s more to this spot than just that. You can grab a One Foot Pizza Toast (a baguette with toasted toppings), a Duo Smash Burger (OH, you know how we LOVE burgers! 🍔), and oddly, a Hot Dog (or kielbasa)!? 🌭
The summer Sarasota heat can be exhausting. There is no better time for a cooling beverage. Plus, EVERYONE loves a slushy!

Of course, we decided to take a couple of Döner Wraps out for a test drive. Let’s have a look, shall we? After all, that’s really why you’re here, right?? 😄
📝 NOTE: Both of these were just delicious. Every bite was super flavorful. We did discover something about the Turkish Döner Wrap that we hadn’t expected. For as tasty a treat as this was, it was not easy to photograph! Sorry. 😢
We did manage to score a few better pics courtesy of The Duo!
👀 RANDOM OBSERVATIONS
• The Duo – Döner and Deli is tucked away on the ground floor, in the north corner of Siesta Center. You may have to look for it. This is one time that the hunt will be worth the effort.
• Go there hungry! These wraps were giant and beyond filling. A normal person can probably get two meals out of one. A teenager, probably not. 😁
• Parking can be a problem on SK. Not here! They have their own dedicated lot, just steps from your waiting Döner delight!
✅ BOTTOM LINE
Looking for a little culinary adventure? Here’s your opportunity to do it without setting foot on an airplane! This is a very casual and relaxed atmosphere. It’s more of a carryout place. (If you want to dine in, they have a few tables where you can do that). Grab a Döner Kebob on your way home from the beach or after a day of shopping in SK Village! Your taste buds will be happy. 😋
