1, 2, 3… That’s all that’s remains. Clocking in at #3 is a Sarasota restaurant that offers two, count ’em two, great locations. And, each one has it’s own distinct character.
#3 The Old Salty Dog
Adults, kids, families, locals, tourists, just about everybody hits “The Dog” at some point or another. No pretenses, nothing fancy, just great casual food and drinks. They are famous for their signature dish, appropriately named, The Salty Dog.
You start with a foot long deep fried hot dog. Then, that’s where the fun starts. Add pretty much anything you want. And, I mean anything. Onions (raw or sauteed), mushrooms, relish, 4 or 5 kinds of cheese, bacon, even sauerkraut. Make it your own Salty Dog. Here’s one of my creations.
If you’re at all a junk food junkie, you need to get out and try one of these things. You won’t be disappointed. There are two locations to choose from. The original on Siesta Key and a great spot on City Island. Your choice.
