Monday, Monday…
Here we go. Savor Sarasota week two is officially underway. I trust you got a little rest yesterday. If you’ve made it this far and are still eating along with us, I applaud you! If you’re just getting on board with this, you’ve got some catching up to do.
1976. The U.S. of A. was breaking out the party goods and celebrating it’s 200th birthday. Down in Venice, The Crow’s Nest was checking off their final few boxes and getting ready to open the doors on a thirty nineĀ year (and counting) ride that’s still going strong. Let’s just say that Crow’s Nest Owner, Steve Harner has figured it out!
If you had never been to Florida (let alone Venice). And, had only seen our state on TV or film, The Crow’s Nest is probably the kind of Florida restaurant you would conjure up. Bright, airy, open dining room. Fresh Florida fish. And, yes, THE VIEW! Water, water, water (and boats of course). All of it just screams Sunshine State!
So, what does a place so steeped in SW Florida history serve up for restaurant week? Ā That’s a question that I knew you would be asking. Hey, I’ve got a great idea. Why don’t we take a peek at what ChefĀ Jonathan Derue is cooking up for it’s Savor Sarasota guests.

There is certainly something for everyone here. Lunchtime even has the vegetarian crowd handled. Let’s get to it shall we. For lunch I’m set on The Crow’s Nest, silky NE clam chowder (among the best in town!). Add to that theĀ Mediterranean Pasta. No dessert for me (it’s only lunch). Dinner goes like this in my book. Caesar Salad, Can not pass on theĀ Wild Florida Stuffed Shrimp AND, why not, a Savor Surprise to wind up my evening.
To wash things down The Crow’s Nest proudly features thirty wines by the glass (check them out here). They have a pretty huge bottle list too.
For those of you who might be new to this, here is a quick recap of the Savor rules. Three course meal, $15PP lunch, $29PP dinner. Just that simple.
It’s Monday. So here’s a little treat to get your week started…
