Authentic Korean cuisine. The location is just north of downtown Sarasota. So, it's a little out of the way, but, worth it. Try any of the Bulgogi dishes. They're always a hit for sure. Sushi is good and affordable. $2, 2 piece sashimi is a real deal!

Casual, yet sophisticated Peruvian fare. Pretty much all of your traditional Peruvian dishes are represented on the menu. Obviously, you'll need to try the ceviche! Don't forget their Happy Hour, Mon-Fri 3pm to 7PM

People in Sarasota are always searching for good NY style Chinese carry out. If you count yourself in that crowd then a trip to Taste of Hong Kong is in order. They serve a good size menu of New York style Chinese favorites. They offer dine and and carry out service. Also, if you request, they have that spicy and hot homemade mustard that is SO much better than the plastic mustard packets.

This is a fantastic little breakfast/lunch find. Easy to get to north trail location. They feature a great variety of traditional breakfast selections including benedicts and omelet. They also have a couple of vegan breakfast items. Lunches include burgers, sandwiches and salads. They feature Hungarian goulash daily! There's not many places in Sarasota that you can get that. Also, a risotto of that day. This is also a pet friendly restaurant.

Tucked into a pretty typical SW Florida strip mall. La Dolce Vita is a bit of a surprise. Real homemade Italian cuisine served by folks who love their food. You'll find all of the dishes you would expect. Pasta, fish, meat and seafood. They also have a nice selection of desserts. Some ideas:

New (2016) on north Tamiami Trail. Kasa sushi is a family friendly Sarasota Japanese restaurant. Casual interior. Nothing fancy here, but, a good solid sushi menu. Also, hibachi cooking and teriyaki items are featured. They take reservations which is really helpful in season. They have lots of parking.

Southside Villages newest place for a great pizza or a locally brewed craft beer. Lots of choices both on the beer and pizza front. They also serve some pretty fantastic baked wings. A good place for a lunch stop!

Simple, small menu. AND, Perq Coffee. "Southern Bakery". Wifi available.

Casual "rustic" atmosphere. From the same chef/owners as downtown's Pomona. Lots of small plates. Mostly vegetable dishes. They source their ingredients from local organic farmers if available.

Independently owned steakhouse. So, if you’re not looking for the corporate steakhouse experience this is for you. Reasonable pricing. Prime rib (Queen) $18.99? That’s great.

Family owned/operated since 1978. The menu has a NOLA tilt. Lot’s of unique dishes to choose from. Try the crispy duckling New Orleans & steak diane.

Fresh Florida seafood and a super gulf view. Lots of seafood choices and enough other options for the non-seafood eaters. Lobster Pot Pie, seriously! Can’t pass on that.

I think The Melting Pot is Sarasota's only fondue place. They do a good job too! Lots of options and it's generally a good experience. Not cheap. But, fun for a special occasion.

A great place to catch a pre or post movie pizza. Directly across from the Hollywood 20. But, more than just pizza. The veal chop milanese is always a hit!

We categorize this as American. But, a lot of Mediterranean influence going on here. Chef Paul Mattison is a local standout. Sophisticated dishes, priced right.

Fine dining. I mean it. One the best high end restaurants in town. James Beard nominated Chef Jose Martinez is the real deal. Prix fixe menu and ala carte choices.

Never had a Famous Italian sandwich? Bummer. You should hustle right down to Main Bar and correct that. Lots and lots of great sandwich selections. Soups too!

You get it from the name. It’s Chicago. Pizza, Chicago beefs and Vienna hot dogs. Stocked with Windy City sports stuff. If you’re from Chicago you’ll get your “up north” fix.

What you would expect from a Ritz-Carlton restaurant. Top notch Ritz service and great food. It’s pricey, but, you’re at a Ritz. Dine outdoors for stunning water views.

OK, I'm going to say it, "ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI". There, it's out. So if you like, no LOVE tons of sushi this is your spot. For $23.50 you can eat all you can handle.

Downtown Sarasota’s only real steakhouse. It’s got that “big city” feel to it. I’m sure you know what I mean by that. Great wedge salad. Also, lobster mac & cheese side.

In Siesta Village at the main intersection. It’s hard to miss the hub. Big outdoor dining area and live music. It’s island atmosphere for sure. Try a Hub Cuban Sandwich.

Hot dog shack. One of Sarasota’s oldest and best! They’ve been serving up a large assortment of dogs since 1970. It’s certainly not fancy. But, if you want a hot dog this is it.

It’s one of Sarasota best burgers. There may be debate in town about who is actually #1. But, the Hob Nob makes the top three of every list. Vintage Sarasota experience!

Harry’s is a Longboat tradition. Not only is the restaurant great. But, the deli is not to be missed. They are usually running a special. Their website has details.

Siesta Key casual. Gilligan’s has live music and a lively crowd. Busy during season. But, that’s the fun of it. Both locals and visitors hangout here.

If I was from Philly, I would be there four times a week! It’s the real deal. Amoroso bread. Cheese Whiz, of course. Tender, delicious, Philly steak sandwiches!

Multiple locations. This is a great place to catch a game and enjoy some fantastic casual cuisine. Always good service. An energetic atmosphere.

There are a few places to eat a steak in Sarasota. This is at the top of the list. A big city steakhouse experience. Fantastic wine list. Don’t forget the Fleming’s Potatoes.

Great brick oven pizza and outstanding Italian cuisine. Name was changed From Bella Roma Ristorante in the past year. But, the same great food and service.

I'm not a chain guy. But, when it comes to burgers some of the chains do a better job than some independents (don't hate me). Shake Shack, In N Out and Smashburger come to mind. So does Five Guys. Great griddled burgers and super great fries. Hey, there's a place for this. Also, believe it or not there's a "low-carb" burger option.

This casual dining chain started here in Sarasota. The Main Street store is one of their first locations. Healthy options for both lunch and dinner. Lots of Sarasota area locations. Check their website for more location details.

One of Longboat Key’s best. Known for their duck and the prime peppered steak. Both are winners. Upstairs The Haye Loft is fun for dessert or a small plate dinner.

Believe it or not, this is my go-to for a lox and bagel. You would think there would be better places in Sarasota for a bagel. There really aren't. Hey, remember, this isn't New York.

There is something for everyones tastes on Dutch Valley’s giant menu. The broasted chicken is a home run. Don’t miss that. They also feature homemade soups and desserts.

You’ve got to pay attention your first time there. It’s back from the road and a little hidden. But, when you find it you’ll be in for a treat. Super fresh and delicious local seafood.

Tasty Thai cuisine. They also offer a pretty good sized sushi menu. If sushi isn’t your thing, try the pad thai or the pad woonsen.

Quaint. That’s the perfect word here. A great family owned Italian restaurant. Gulf Gate is the ideal neighborhood to house this little gem of a place.

One of Venice’s premier places to dine. Great food, great views. Lots of local seafood to choose from. The Crow’s Nest bouillabaisse is an excellent pick.

White table cloth dining. Great, fresh local seafood. They’ve been on the circle since 1978. They must be doing something right. A big selection of oysters.

It’s not Katz or Manny’s, but, you also don’t have to get on a plane. Serving all Boar’s Head deli products. A wide selection of sandwiches. Quick lunch service.

The “Gem of Spanish Restaurants”. And, it is! A St. Armands tradition for locals and visitors. The 1905 Salad is mandatory. Soup, salad & sandwich combos for lunch.

Downtown tradition. Make no mistake, this is a coffee shop. Counter stool and all. Before Facebook, this is where you did your local social networking! Probably still can.

Right off the Stickney Point bridge. A great stop for breakfast on the way to the beach. Or, an early after beach dinner. Nice outdoor seating space.

Clasico Italian Chophouse, located right at the corner of Main & Palm in the heart of downtown Sarasota. A brand new menu (2020) featuring Italian favorites and contemporary American cuisine. A great place to catch a later dinner. The kitchen is open until 11PM!

Fantastic Gulf of Mexico view. Great seafood. Great service. Everything you would expect from a Chart House restaurant. A nice special occasion choice.

A fun place for a shopping break. Especially, if you’ve got kids with you. Casual, island style cuisine. Good service. Fuel up and then back to the shops!

Would you like to take a trip to a French cafe without leaving Sarasota? A quick hop downtown is all you need. The Biarritz baguette sandwich rocks! Just my opinion.

There is nothing like the Casey Key Fish House. Super laid back drinking and dining. This place screams, “I’m on vacation”. Even if you’re a local. And, the locals love it!

This is old school, Sarasota seafood. It’s an early dining crowd here. There’s lots of local catches. The ambiance is plain, but, hey, you’re here for the seafood anyway.

Big steaks. Big city steakhouse. You’ll get prime meat and great service. It’s not cheap. But these kinds of places typically aren’t. Great for a special occasion.

A St. Armands favorite since 1973. You should try the Brandied Duckling L’Europe. Also, the grouper margarita is a can’t miss dish.

Located in Payne Park in downtown Sarasota. They feature locally sourced ingredients for their dishes. Organic products are used whenever possible. A great place for a leisurely lunch in a unique setting.

Featuring an outdoor deck for dining and enjoying a nice Sarasota evening. Great wines to choose from. The costolette di vitello is great. They serve Allen Brothers steaks.

The corner of Main & Palm is hot! Lots going on right there. And, Epicure is in the center of the action. Great pizzas. Outdoor dining is a must. Open late night. Gelato.

OK. This super non-descript place easy very easy to pass up. But, you'd be making a mistake. They serve some pretty great burritos. Service is quick and the prices reasonable. What more could you want in a burrito joint?

Gotta love the Burns Court area. This little eatery has that same, urban-light, neighborhood feel. Nice and cozy. Great coffee selection. Hey, try a crepe!

When you put "Brooklyn" and "bagels" in your name the expectation is pretty damn high. I'm not sure these would pass for Brooklyn bagels in NYC. But, we're in Sarasota, so, let's lower the bar just a bit. Good neighborhood bagel joint.

This is the Original Broken Egg. Same great menu and service that you have come to love over the years. They still serve their “Incredible Hash Browns”, but, they’re not noted that way on their menu.

A new addition to the Sarasota dining scene. Located at the new UTC. If you like PF Changs, Carrabba’s and The Cheesecake Factory, then Brio is right up your alley.

A super quaint Nokomis Italian restaurant. The usual pasta specialties are represented. Try the shrimp scampi or the tortellini parmigiana.

Small, quaint, downtown breakfast spot (as the name would suggest). Traditional breakfast items. It's cozy and a great break from some of the places that try way too hard to be cute.

Casual pizza, sandwiches, soups and salads. The Italiano Sandwich is pretty great. Also, kids can make their own pizzas every Monday night. That could be fun (or crazy)!

A taste of Paris on Siesta Key. Fresh baguette sandwiches. Refreshing salads. Outdoor dining right on the Ocean Boulevard sidewalk. A European cafe experience.

OK, everyone knows the drill. It’s Bonefish Grill. Bang Bang Shrimp, nice grilled trout (my Dad’s fav). A busy bar scene. Usually busy, plan ahead.

Nice outdoor dining space with a water view. A casual Florida dining experience. Grouper, crab & mahi are featured prominently. You may even see a manatee float by!

Your standard breakfast/lunch place. And, that's not bad. No frills here. Good solid menu selections. Good service. It's small, so, be prepared to wait when there's visitors in town.

Brand new (2015) on St. Armands. Authentic (I hate that word) Greek cuisine. Lots of very traditional dishes. I can't imagine you'll be able to get near this place in season. Best bet is to check it out off peak.

A Siesta Village gem. Blasé offers a laid back bar scene and casual dining with a flair. A local hangout for sure. They feature specialty martinis. Start with some crab bisque.

One of Sarasota’s best known upscale restaurants. Bijou stands for excellent service and delicious dining. Great downtown location. The shrimp piri piri always rocks!

Fresh seafood market and restaurant. Lots of super fresh fish to choose from. They have a limited menu. But, what they offer is right from the water.

Just remodeled in 2014. Lots of outdoor seating with outstanding views of the gulf. They’re proud of their locally sourced ingredients. An ideal place to host an event.

One of the areas premier restaurants. Famous for their bouillabaisse. Reserve early and dine on the beach. Florida Trend Golden Spoon Hall of Fame restaurant for a good reason.

They tout authentic Thai food. But, they really offer more than that. All kinds of Southeast Asia influences going on here. Think Vietnamese, Laos and Cambodian cuisines all wrapped up in one tidy spot.

Recently opened in a space that has housed many a Sarasota restaurant. If first reviews and impressions and any indication, Baker & Wife looks like it could be on its way to holding down this Southgate spot for years to come.

I think you get the idea just by the name. The sandwiched really aren't GIANT by today's mega-portion standards. But, they are pretty good sized. Lots of options for toppings and breads.

There are lots of places to buy cheese in this town. This is one of the best ones. A great selection of hard to find domestic dairies. They serve a small lunch menu.

A big, lively restaurant atmosphere. It can be a little loud. But, you can dine outside and avoid that if you need to. The gyro platter is fantastic. Get it!

The goat cheese salad is a home run. You also can’t go wrong with any of the mussel dishes. If you remember Brasserie Belge in Downtown Sarasota, you’ll get the idea.

This is not the “original” Broken Egg. It changed hands in 2014. Still a solid Siesta Village option for lunch or breakfast. Usually a wait, especially in season.

The Surfer Sandwich may not quite have legendary Sarasota sandwich status. But, it’s damn close. You need to try one for yourself to decide. Don’t skimp on the Anna’s sauce!

Andrea’s has a great, but, fairly pricey wine list. That said, you can bring your own bottle for a $25 corkage fee. A nice option if you have a bottle or two around the house.

North end of Anna Maria Island. They feature fresh Florida seafood. Dining on the beach. Feel like you’re on vacation even if you’re not! Getting married? Great for a wedding!
