Any resemblance to actual events or locales or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental…
Yes, you’ve read or seen that line before. Lots of times probably. Especially if you have ever read a novel or gone to the movies. I’m sure you’ve done both. This piece focuses specifically on “locales”. In this particular case, a restaurant.
Slated to open in mid/late-February, The Summer House Steak and Seafood. If that name sounds familiar to you, then you’ve been in town for a bit. The original Summerhouse Restaurant was located on Midnight Pass Road. It closed its doors almost fifteen years ago. The kitchen at this iconic Siesta Key restaurant was known for launching the careers of some of Sarasota’s best chefs, including Paul Mattison. It also had a GREAT piano bar!
This Summer House (spelled as two words) is located in Siesta Village directly next door to The Cottage restaurant on Avenida Messina. This new steakhouse has been rumored and talked about on Siesta Key for years. Now it looks like those rumors are actually true. Siesta Key is getting its very own steakhouse. Our Siesta Village restaurant scene is evolving (or at least expanding).
Their menu will include all of the options you would expect from a high-end steak place. “Carefully sourced steaks”, fresh seafood, and handcrafted cocktails. But, what the key and Siesta Village, in particular, is lacking is a real adult bar scene. A higher end, “big city” feel kind of a spot. A good happy hour for a more mature audience. There is a big opportunity on Siesta Key for that kind of thing. Is this that kind of place? I guess we’ll all find out together when this much anticipated opening happens. Stay tuned…
