FIRST LOOK – The Breakfast Company
This Bradenton breakfast and lunch spot adds a Sarasota location!
2020 does not seem that long ago. Does it? I think time flies by pretty damn quickly, but 2020 still seems “current.” I wonder if it does for Dimitri Syros and his mother, Terri? β±οΈ
That’s the year this family restaurant team opened their first Breakfast Company in the Twelve Oaks Plaza in Bradenton. Three years in restaurant time IS NOT like three years to you and me. It’s more like a “dog years” situation. Time gets compressed in this business. It goes quickly.
There’s a little restaurant space in The Landings Shopping Center that has been a few things. It’s tucked in next to the newly rebuilt Publix. Without tripping back too far in time… Peach’s, Station 400, and The Lily CafΓ© all called this place home. Now we can add one more name over that door.
As you can probably figure out from the image above, I visited the newest Breakfast Company location on one of Sarasota’s chilliest days. Downright cold, actually. βοΈ
But as you would expect, they have more than ample “temperature-controlled” seating (good for this day AND for August!).
The Breakfast Company (4832 S. Tamiami Trl. (941) 706-4225) is known for its homemade baked goods. And with good reason. One look at the front case should put any doubts aside.
OH, how about another peek, just for good measure?
Let’s say that delicious muffins, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls aren’t your thing (I know, crazy, right!?). This is not a problem! There’s a full menu of breakfast and lunch options. πYou should try a “Stuffin.” It’s a freshly baked muffin stuffed with all kinds of interesting things. But what exactly is the Unicorn stuffing made of? Probably something sparkly!) π€π
They offer plenty of lunch dishes that DO NOT include Unicorn in the description. There are salads, burgers, pita sandwiches, and paninis. HERE’S THE FULL LUNCH MENU.
This is a “cute” little breakfast and lunch place. They’ve included some nice touches to make the space comfy and cozy.
Today we’re here for a little breakfast. They’ve got a pretty complete breakfast menu. YES, they have more than just “Stuffins!”
If you’d like to take the breakfast menu for a spin, HERE’S A LINK TO THE WHOLE THING.
OK, I’ll just come right out and say it. There is a certain expectation level when you have the word “Breakfast” as part of your name. There’s really no other way around it. It sounds like you know how to “do” that meal.
If the Syros name sounds familiar, it’s not hard to explain. They have a history in the Sarasota restaurant community. The family owned and operated the popular El Greco on Main Street beginning in 1990. They served some delicious avgolemono soup. (That location now has great new owners. And goes by 1592 Wood Fired Kitchen. If you haven’t been, you really should. They have great avgolemono, too!).
We’re having breakfast today (because it’s in the name!). If you were me, what would you order to showcase both the Syros family heritage AND their breakfast menu? (Softball question, really). The obvious choice is the Greek Omelet! (I’ll confess. My selection was assisted by my server, Jodie. She raved about it!). β
This omelet seems to have the perfect ingredient list. All of the components for a spectacular Greek Omelet are present. So let’s rattle them off just for good measure.
Gyro meat, grilled onion, diced tomato, and baby spinach. OH, and what self-respecting Greek Omelet would be complete without feta cheese? That’s a tasty combo of stuff, right? Let’s check out how all of this looked when it came to the table.
A delicious start to a chilly day! This tasted exactly like you would expect from the description. It’s savory meets tangy. The gyro meat lends the savory component while the feta brings the tang! I’m not sure you can tag this as “health food.” But if it makes you feel better, it does contain three separate and distinct vegetables! (I know it’s a stretch) π
Let’s wrap all of this up into a nice little breakfast and lunch package…
THE BOTTOM LINE: Looking for a great place to gather with friends? The Breakfast Company is “perfect” for groups. Looking for breakfast and lunch dishes that are familiar and comforting? Check that box too. And, if you are in search of some pretty premium baked goods, you have to look no further!
