Happy Hour Sarasota – Yard House
We’re off to a newish Sarasota Happy Hour spot! πΊ
πΊοΈ We’re building a special Happy Hour Sarasota map just for you! We’ll be giving you a link to it as soon as we get a few more happy hours under our belt! π
I like to drink beer. πΊ
It’s great on a hot summer day. It’s also just as great on a cold winter day. And there are brews for both of those very unique weather conditions.
The summer brew selections center around all-out refreshment. We’re talking about lighter styles here. Maybe a fruity Czech Pils would be in order, or even a cooling summer ale. Both are great options.
Slide up a few seasons (especially up north), and now you’re into stout and brown ale territory. You’ll need something for a little bit of a warming effect. Maybe you’re enjoying a late fall bonfire, or even watching the white stuff come down during the winter holidays. They’re both perfect occasions for something a little more substantial.
We’re lucky. We’ve got a few places in town that can span the breadth of the beer spectrum. 99 Bottles, downtown on 2nd Street, is one of the best places in town for that type of selection. (Oak & Stone has nice options too!)
As of this past April, North Sarasota County now boasts a spot that has A LOT of beer!
The first time that I walked into a Yard House was about ten years ago. It was in Seattle, Washington. They had just opened their first store in that area. It was right in the middle of the action at 4th and Pike. They boasted 130+ beers on tap. Their glass front keg room held 7,000 gallons of beer. That’s 56,000 pints for those of you keeping score at home! πΊ
It can be a bit overwhelming if you’re not used to these kinds of choices (and who really was back in 2013?). I like to try new things, but the universe of new things to try at the Yard House was, well, I think you know! π
They still boast the “World’s Largest Selection of Draft Beer,” totaling over 130 unique beers on tap. And who am I to dispute that!? π»
The Sarasota version of the Yard House is busy. π The young person who sat me at my table said, “It never really stops!!”. And based on crowd size on this slow Sarasota summer afternoon, I believe him.
When it cools down a little (hopefully before December), they have a nice “green” space to enjoy your preferred beer selection.
Here’s a peek at some of the beverage choices that you’ll face. If you’re at the bar, it seems like there’s more pressure to make a selection than if you’re seated at a table.
Tables are equipped with their own electronic ordering system (just like at the Palm Avenue Deli). I love this. I know that some folks like the more traditional process where a server dutifully takes your order. That’s available too!
β Of course we brought Tim along for the Happy Hour ride! You didn’t really think we’d leave him standing by the side of the road waiting for a half-off appetizer, did you?…
So, let’s talk about our happy hour experience at the Yard House!

Alright, let’s take a quick look at what we ended up ordering…
Yes, we had beer! We both had the House Belgian White. This beer is contract brewed by Stone Brewing. They make some great beer, so I knew this would be a winner (and it was!).
We had pizza…
Not a bad pie. Especially for Β½ off! π
And we had a big ole bunch of Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds.
There were A LOT of curds! π§
Let’s run down some of the highlights of our visit. β
π¨π»β𦱠TIM’S TIPS –
β’ A little surprised by the pizza. It was better than expected. It was also the perfect size to split between two people.
β’ Liked the classic rock video playing on the TVs scattered around the bar area and dining room. It was a nice “vibe.” The place also still had the “new car smell”. π
β’ Happy Hour is only from 3pm to 6pm. You’ll need to get here on the earlier side if you want to get a seat.
ππ»ββοΈ LARRY LIKES –
β’ This is a good happy hour value. $40 for 3 pints of beer, one pizza, and one order of GIANT cheese curds. That amount includes the tip! π΅
β’ Yes, Yard House is a chain. And it absolutely has that feel to it. (It’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just a thing) So, if you like places with more of a corporate character to them, this will be right in your wheelhouse.
β’ They offer a brew selection that will make almost any beer lover smile. The number of food options available at happy hour pricing is also towards the top end of the scale. It’s obvious that they’re trying to convert those discount happy hour customers into loyal regulars. And that just may work!
THE BOTTOM LINE: Lots & lots of food and drink choices β’ You get a lot for the happy hour dollar β’ Service for us was a little hit and miss. The digital ordering system helps, but it really still comes down to the people β’ This place was busy in summer. If you go during season, be prepared to wait. β’ Lots of parking helps make this an easy stop to navigate
