I thought I had seen or eaten just about anything that could contain or be made with a piece of goat cheese. I was wrong.
The menu description is so inviting Two warm goat cheese pillows encased in puff pastry on a bed of romaine, apple and nuts. Honey vinaigrette. A house specialty.
You read that and you cant help but envision how delicious that is going to be. I have been told that I have a pretty active imagination and my tasty fantasy of this salad paled in comparison to the real deal. Where can you get this amazing creation? Newly opened Brasserie Belge.
The elements of this dish are so simple. But, when combined they create a dish that is greater than the sum of its parts. I am generally not a big fan of fruit and/or nuts in my salads. But, this particular dish has me thinking I may have missed a bunch of other spectacular salad opportunities in my not so distant past. Im considering a permanent change in my salad philosophy. This may shock my wife.
Last one, I promise. I just couldnt help but show you how that honey vinaigrette drips so gently from those perfectly cooked puff pastries. WOW.
This salad is pretty huge. And, its only twelve bucks. You could have one for an entire dinner. I understand though that they will split one of these for you (that also means the twelve dollars gets split). So, you could enjoy the Chevre Salad for a starter and not deprive yourself of one of their fantastic entrees. Like a Hangar Steak or maybe an order of Belgian Meatballs.
Brasserie Belge. Its a worth a trip to one of Main Streets new hot spots. Theyre open 11am to 11pm daily and feature outdoor as well as indoor dining.
