It’s Sarasota’s Golden Hour
The Oshen Bar at the St. Regis celebrates it every dusk!
π The Golden Hour. Yes, you’ve experienced it, even if you have no idea that you have. It’s that last little bite of daylight right before a glorious Sarasota day turns into a night with unlimited possibilities. You know exactly what I’m talking about.
Sarasota has a new player for your high-end dining dollars. I’m guessing I’m telling you something that you probably already know. We now have a St. Regis resort! YES, that St. Regis. The one started by John Jacob Astor IV back in the early 1900s.
This is Top Shelf All the Way. The St. Regis is one of the elite luxury brands in the world, and it has landed on our very own Longboat Key. It occupies shoreline that used to hold one of our area’s most beloved upscale nameplates, The Colony Beach & Tennis Resort. This particular piece of property has a long and storied Sarasota history.
This brand-new lavish retreat is home to a beautiful stretch of beach, pools with private cabanas, a saltwater lagoon, and more dining and cocktailing options than seems possible or even reasonable to have in one location.
It seems silly to try and tackle this giant in one big swing. So, we’re just going to talk about one of the most unique parts of this beautiful addition to our neighborhood. Oshen…
Asian Fusion Meets Sarasota Sunset. Remember that Golden Hour? Well, the Oshen gulf-side bar is the perfect place to experience it fully. It goes without saying that there’s a view.
And it’s a view that you never tire of seeing. But Oshen is more than just a viewing spot. Much more…
They’ve got a quiet little nook for you to relax and enjoy either the waning hours of daylight or the excitement that the evening to come may bring.Β
Yes, this is a food and drink piece. So, it would make sense that we would give you a quick peek at the menu.
Want a better look? Of course you do.

It’s not big, but it’s mighty. Packed full of light bites that will be great ride-alongs for whatever your cocktail selection might be.
A little something to whet your appetite…
A Perfect Time for a Cocktail! The order of these events is unclear (at least to me). π€·ββοΈ
The Challenge – The Golden Hour deserved and needed its very own cocktail.
The Solution – Either Spencer, Oshen’s resident mixologist, took this task upon himself, or the St. Regis higher-ups charged him with it.
The Result β Whichever path was taken, the result is deliciously drinkable. Oshen’s very own interpretation of the Nikkei Sour.
This tasty liquid treat is a little bit of a mashup. A bit of Peru sprinkled with just a touch of Japan. It’s a meeting that you’ll agree makes perfect sense from your first sip. AND it’s served just for that one special hour!
Each of Oshen’s handmade cocktails has its own uniqueness.
The Okinawan Ginger Colada combines flavors from the islands and Japan into a drink that will certainly get your attention!
