Dining musical chairs on Main Street.
The wheel turns for the restaurant community on Main Street in downtown Sarasota. In what is an ever changing dining scene, another chapter is about to be penned as Jalea will close it’s doors to make room for a larger Yume Sushi.
The Peruvian/Spanish themed Jalea was purchased by Dutch entrepreneur, Ambrish Piare back in 2012. Piare is also the proprietor of Cafe Americano and the Ivory nightclub. Both of which are located downtown on Main near five points.
While it’s a shame to see any Sarasota restaurant close its doors, this transition will come with a delicious ending. The popular Yume Sushi will soon occupy the larger space just across the street from where it currently operates.
Any Sarasota sushi lover knows Yume very well. For years they have been creating some of the best and most inspired sushi dishes in town. And, doing it in a way that raises the bar for any of our other Asian/Sushi/Japanese restaurants that are paying attention.
Yume always ranks as one of my personal top three sushi spots in Sarasota (the others, JPan and Vizen). Can’t wait to see what Yume owner, Baw envisions for his new expanded space.
FYI- Don’t fret, you will still be able to catch a few of Jalea’s signature dishes. They will be adding menu items and staff from the old Jalea to the current offerings at Cafe Americano in the near future.
