What can you say about the mighty Cobb Salad that hasnt already been said a thousand times? How about these observations. Its a meal disguised as a salad. All of the major food groups are covered on one king sized plate. It has bacon!
Lots of restaurants serve Cobbs. The very first being the legendary Hollywood Brown Derby Restaurant in California. Depending on whose version of the story you choose to believe, the salad was invented by either the restaurants owner (Robert Howard Cobb) or its chef (Robert Kreis). Either way were happy they had the culinary creativity to whip up this masterpiece of a salad.
The Hollywood Brown Derby isnt around anymore. But, their famous creation lives on. Right here in little old Sarasota we have a version of the classic Cobb that wont disappoint. The Dutch Valley Restaurant puts their stamp on a delicious dish. Lets have a look.
This beauty is made up of grilled chicken, tomatoes, black olives, bacon, hard boiled eggs and crumbled blue cheese. Pile all of that on top of a bed of crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce. WOW! That salad is sure to satisfy even the hungriest Sarasota diner.
It is nice that its offered in two sizes. How about small for lunch and large for dinner? Or, you can just pick the size that suits you best.
