The Cottage Dials Up A Delicious Brunch
An upscale brunch from a Siesta Key favorite
There are two kinds of brunches in this world (let’s leave dim sum out of the discussion for the moment!).
1οΈβ£ There’s the “All You Can Pile On” buffet type. You know exactly what I’m referring to. There’s typically a hot line and a cold line. Go ahead, scoop as much of those scrambled eggs onto your plate as your little heart desires. Oh, you want a three-month serving of semi-wilty bacon? Go right ahead and grab a fistful. Not a problem.
I’ll admit that I’ve been known to make several passes through a grazing station or two. And there can be some hidden gems in those lines. But really, they’re set up to make gluttony as easy as possible. Nothing wrong with that. And at times, it’s oddly satisfying. Plus, as a bonus, you’ll usually get an unscheduled nap! π€
2οΈβ£ We’re Here to Talk About the Second Type. This is the kind of brunch experience that elevates the late morning-early afternoon meal into something a little more thoughtful and certainly more tasteful.
The Cottage (153 Avenida Messina (941) 312-9300) on Siesta Key has been around for a little bit (almost 15 years!). That’s long enough to have gained a faithful following of locals and visitors.
Yes, they have tasty food. But they also have a friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating staff. They’re always on their A Game!
π You’re Looking for Brunch. We’re Here to Help. Brunch is about more than the intersection of two meals. At least it should be. It’s about taking a relaxing slice out of a Saturday or Sunday. There’s no doubt that great food absolutely helps the relaxation process.
π£οΈ Let’s Talk About Brunch at The Cottage
First, the menu…
What this menu lacks in size, it more than makes up for in deliciousness. Each one of the dishes has been well thought out by GM Jacque Slayton and Chef Bruno Toso. There really is something here for everyone and every palate.

For starters…
β The Cottage brunch starts with a little surprise for you!
Cornbread is surprisingly tricky to get right. So, using Jacque’s Granny’s recipe as the inspiration, Cottage Chef Kurt Vogel worked to get just the right spin on it without losing any of its original deliciousness. π I’m not sure if Granny’s recipe included the jalapeΓ±o dust! I guarantee you’ll be asking for another scoop of that orange zest and honey butter!
π Every table gets an order of cornbread to get things started right. AND it’s on the house! π
Let’s check out some of the other possibilities…
AND NOW it’s Sriracha Honey Bacon time! π₯
This bacon is addictive. It’s sweet, it’s got a touch of spice, and it’s smokey. It’s really pork candy if you want to know the truth. And who doesn’t like some candy every now and then?
π¨ CAUTION – You will not be able to stop once you start down this bacon road! You have been warned. π
The Cottage has some nice places to enjoy this fantastic brunch.
You can sit outside…
Or you can sit inside…

π RANDOM BRUNCH STUFF
β’ Brunch is offered on Saturday & Sunday from 9AM to 2PM.
β’ The Cottage DOES NOT take reservations. But they can accommodate a lot of folks between their inside and outside dining spaces.
β’ π° This would be perfect for Easter Brunch this Sunday (MAR 31ST). π They WILL be taking reservations for Easter Brunch (this day only). Call the restaurant for availability.
β’ They’re letting their bar staff show off their expert mixology skills by featuring a special menu of brunch cocktails and artisan juices!
β’ Valet parking helps take the stress out of the Siesta Village parking crush.
β’ The portion sizes here are large. You’ll be more than satisfied. (Translation: that means you probably won’t miss the buffet line π)
β BOTTOM LINE
If you’re looking for that carefree start to your weekend, this brunch will definitely hit that note. Creative brunch dishes, attentive staff, and a perfect Siesta Key setting will take your idea of what a casual brunch can be up about three notches.
