The LIST – February 2023
We’ve got some great Sarasota Restaurant info for you!
⭐Welcome to our monthly roundup of Sarasota restaurant, food, and dining “stuff.” We call it The LIST. Hopefully, you’ll walk away knowing a little bit more about our local dining community than when you stopped by. OH, make sure and read to the end. We’ve mixed in a couple of new ingredients to our recipe! Let’s get to it!…
It’s February! That means different things to different folks. Yes, Valentine’s Day (a great day to get out and visit a Sarasota restaurant). It’s also the start of spring training baseball here and around Florida (Orioles, Braves, Pirates). And, of course, it is the “unofficial” beginning of season in the Sarasota area.
If the past Christmas/New Year holiday is any indication at all, this year, our visitor season is shaping up to be a super busy one (If you live here, hang on tight! 😬). If you’re headed this way from anywhere north, have a great stay, AND please get out and support our local restaurant scene.
With that said, we’ve got a few new additions to that already bustling Sarasota restaurant community. So, without any further delay, let’s get to some of them…
Tzeva (1255 N. Palm Ave. – The Art Ovation Hotel (941) 316-0808). Sporting a menu that leans heavily on Mediterranean influences. It’s located in the Art Ovation Hotel. So, I think you know what that means. Rooftop drinks + Delicious Mediterranean food = Great evening! (We’ll be bringing you a First Look sometime soon. 🤞)
The Chateau Sarasota (2001 Siesta Dr. (941) 706-4093). This is the sister (or brother) restaurant to the Chateau Anna Maria (and the Chateau on the Lake, located in Bolton Landing, NY). This is a French-inspired menu. And it is owned and operated by the Foy family. Yes, the Foy family from Food TV’s Summer Rush series (you can check that out RIGHT HERE).
This restaurant is taking up the former Roy’s Restaurant space in the same building as Fleming’s Steakhouse. Should be a fantastic addition to our local food scene. Can’t wait to hear what you all think of it!! (Please leave some comments on our dineSarasota FB page if you go!)
The last new one this month is the Red Plum Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar (7119 S. Tamiami Trl. (941) 554-8816). Red Plum is located on the South Trail in the space that once housed Rasoi Indian Cuisine. They’re serving up traditional and creative sushi (as the name would suggest). But you can also choose from teriyaki and hibachi dishes! 🍣
OK, here we go. Let’s get to our top 5 for this month, shall we?…
#5 Bay Leaf Indian Cuisine (1092 S Tamiami Trl. – Osprey (941) 244-0310)
Pretty new. Located down in Osprey. Seems like we’re getting a few more places that serve Indian cuisine opening lately (Also Turmeric Indian Bar & Grill). And I’ll tell you, I’m completely fine with that! 😃 Still miss Chutney’s Etc.
#4 Post Kitchen & Bar (8433 Cooper Creek Blvd. (941) 259-4850)
Post Kitchen holds firm at number 4. That UTC/Cooper Creek/LWR area sure has a lot of places to try. This one seems super popular with all of you!
#3 Florence and the Spice Boys (4990 S. Tamiami Trl. (941) 405-3890)
Yes, it’s Florence! Down a notch from number 2 last month but still packing them in at their relatively new Landings location. I just love the Chicken Shawarma Salad. Here’s A LINK to a little First Look preview in case you may have missed it.
#2 Faicco’s Italian Hero’s & Grill (3590 Webber St. (941) 960-1395)
Big, giant, delicious Italian hero/sub sandwiches are still unbelievably popular in Sarasota! I absolutely need to get back there and sample the Porchetta and Broccoli Rabe Sandwich. I just need to make time for an afternoon nap after that. 💤
#1 The Shebeen Irish Pub & Kitchen (6641 Midnight Pass Rd., (941) 952-3070)
They’re at the top of the whole pile this month! They’re located just south of Siesta Key’s Stickney Point Bridge. This is shaping up to be one of the more popular spots on the south part of the island. We can only hope they are planning a BIG St. Patty’s party as part of their mid-March happenings?! ☘️🤞
Here’s a look at the rest of the February Top 10
It’s the Ibis Grill & Pub (The old Pub 32 location), the Beach House Waterfront Restaurant (Brand new menu and brand new chef!), the Deep Lagoon Seafood and Oyster House on Casey Key, Towles Court’s favorite coffee spot Baby Brie’s Cafe & Coffee House, and finally, Azul Steak & Sushi Lounge (that’s Flirt Sushi with some new branding and menu changes).
