Jack Dusty rolls out some great new craft cocktails (oh, and food too!)
Let’s see a show of hands. A friend calls you up (OK, that’s not realistic. They email or message you) and asks, “would you like to try a bunch of new cocktails we’re whipping up?” That’s what I thought, almost unanimous. I’m not sure why that one guy in the back didn’t raise his hand, weird…
Obviously, that’s not a serious question. Almost anyone would love to be a test subject when it comes to the art of mixology. Jack Dusty’s Lead Bartender, Kelly Crawford, and his team of inspired cocktail creators are the ones behind a new menu of 22 inventive, playful, and super delicious drink options.
Let’s conduct an experiment. Go to your liquor cabinet, fridge, and spice rack right now. Next, take out a seemingly random and unrelated combination of ingredients. Finally, attempt to make something that when you drink it you say, “ah, now, that is a COCKTAIL!.” Now repeat 22 times! A tall task. But, one the Jack Dusty cocktail crew accomplishes with flying colors!
The ingredients of the glass pictured above are as follows. Angels Envy Bourbon, allspice, Drambuie, Pernod, orange, and Angostura bitters with saline. To me, those ingredients seem utterly random. But, not to Kelly and company. Those ingredients combine beautifully to form the final product, Angels in a Barrel. WOW! If you’re anywhere near being a brown liquor person, you are going to fall in love with this cocktail.
Here’s a few more to wet your whistle.
Each of these 22 innovative libations comes with an equally clever name. Here’s a sampling, Shrubs In Time, Honey Why Are You Bitter, The Smoking Jacket, and The Sure Current. I’ve got to believe it took hours of cocktail sampling until you were in the proper frame of mind to put a name to all of those drinks. I think I would have been good at that part of the process!

Chef de Cuisine, John Ford has created some new dishes to accompany all of these new drink options. Among them a super delicious asparagus salad.
And, a savory and flavorful grilled grouper with forbidden rice, salsa verde, and dragon fruit.
