Most people hate moving. Im one of them.
Moving is the worst! Thats just me. You may enjoy packing up all of your crap, loading it into a truck, van or car and hauling it all to a new spot. I don’t like it. I cant imagine moving an entire restaurant is that much fun either.
So, as long as youre going to move, you may as well go all the way and change your name too. Thats precisely what the former Half Shell Oyster House did. Moving from downtown to University Parkway AND swapping out one important word in their name. They are now the Half Shell SEAFOOD House. I think its an excellent choice.
The new name reflects a move to a more broad based seafood menu and a little less focus on one particular part, the oyster. No need to panic. They still have a wide selection of oyster options available. But, now there are choices for seafood lovers of all stripes.
From Lobster Macaroni to Seafood Stuffed Portabellas to Snow and King Crab. They didn’t forget to include Po-Boys and Ruby Reds. Im also happy to report that they will still be serving that killer gumbo!
I’m happy to report that they didn’t lose the recipe for their crazy good (and highly addictive) Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding in the transition.
Im so glad they didnt leave that behind in the old Main Street space. That would have been tragic.
Visit them in their new home. Its a light, bright and airy place to slurp down a few oysters.

We had lunch last week and it was all delicious !! I had seafood pot pie and a friend had fried oysters. She is an oyster nut and was delighted. Can hardly wait to come back.
